Article in Island Parent Magazine - May 2005

The Single Parent Resource Society was delighted to be selected for funding from the Ministry for Children and Family Development through the Queen Alexandra Children's Foundation Strategic Investment Initiatives Fund to develop and offer a Moms and Mentors program. Starting in January 2005, Moms and Mentors at the Single Parent Resource Centre will be matching volunteer mentors with moms who would like a friend for support and information. This will be a resource for parents to share good times while building strength and support for challenging times. Potential mentors who are able to offer a 1 year commitment will begin being interviewed in October 2004. Partners in the development and delivery of this program include: Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Parent Support Services, and Moms and Mentors Program in the Western Community.

This conference was held Friday May 30th, 2003. Highlights included: "Talking About Moms and Mentors" and "Building Healthy Family Relationships" with Dr. Gweneth Doan Mother of 3, Nurse Educator & Psychologist, University of Victoria

This conference was held November 10, 2002 Victoria, BC (in Colwood). Highlights of this highly successful event included: "Round Table Discussion - sharing experiences of women as entrepreneurs," "Promoting healthy & positive relationships through conflict mediation," "Reading relationships with preschool children," and a CPR demonstration/practice.
